Customer Security Email - January 2016

January 7, 2016

Attention: Windows Users

Please be advised that if your computer runs any version of Microsoft Windows, we strongly encourage you to follow Microsoft’s recent recommendation to upgrade Internet Explorer to the most current version available (Internet Explorer 11) as soon as possible due to security concerns.

Microsoft has announced that, as of January 12, 2016, only the most current version of IE will receive technical support and security updates.  This means that if you do not upgrade to the latest version of IE, your computer WILL NO LONGER receive security updates for IE as they have historically been released by Microsoft on a monthly basis and your computer will be at risk.

Additional information about Microsoft’s announcement as well as instructions for how you can upgrade Internet Explorer are available at the following link - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/WindowsForBusiness/End-of-IE-support.  We recommend that you review this information thoroughly and contact Microsoft if you have any questions regarding the upgrade.

The security of our customers’ financial information is of the utmost importance to us.  To further enhance our security, effective February 1, 2016, if you use IE version 9 or earlier as your web browser, you will be unable to access American Bank websites or sign-on to online banking.  Again, while IE 10 will continue to function, we strongly recommend that you update your browser to IE 11, since all prior versions of IE will no longer be supported by Microsoft after January 12, 2016.

In addition, prior to February 1st, when you visit our website, AMBK.com, you may be presented with a notification which will appear in the sign-on for online banking.  If the IE version that you are currently utilizing does not meet the security requirements for our website, a message will be displayed.  You will be able to click on a link to learn more about this or you may have the option of continuing with the sign-on process.  It is important to note that this notification will be temporary and after February 1st, if you do not have the most current version of IE, you will be unable to access our sites.

If you are having difficulty accessing our websites using IE, there are other browsers that you can download such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox that are compatible with our websites.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.  Remember, if you require assistance with upgrading your IE browser, you should contact Microsoft directly.

Thank you for choosing American Bank!
